A vow to survive the plague:The Passion Play is the defining event for the village, performed every 10 years by its residents. In 1633, the village was suffering from the bubonic plague when the townspeople made a solemn vow that if God spared them, they would perform a "Play of the Suffering, Death and Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ" every decade.
